Agosto, ancora tempo di vacanze! Per motivi climatici, nelle nazioni dell’Europa del Sud le vacanze natalizie durano di meno e quelle estive durano di più. Così, anche se agosto sta ormai per finire molti Italiani sono ancora in ferie.
August: still time for holidays! Due to weather reasons, in the South of Europe countries have shorter Christmas holidays and longer summer ones. This is why many Italian people are still on holiday right now, even if August is almost over.
Ma quali sono le mete preferite dal popolo italiano?

Oltre il 60% sceglie le località balneari, al secondo posto troviamo la montagna e le città d’arte. Quest’anno l’esposizione universale, EXPO 2015, si è tenuta a Milano aumentando il numero dei turisti nella città. A differenza degli Inglesi, pochi Italiani scelgono di trascorrere le proprie vacanze nei parchi naturali o in luoghi selvaggi ed incontaminati.
More than 60% of them choose seaside resorts, then the mountain areas and cities of art. The current Universal Exposition, EXPO 2015, is being hosted by Milan: this has increased the number of tourists in the city. Differently from British people, only few Italians usually go to natural parks or wild places for their holidays.
Inoltre, quest’anno sono rimasti soprattutto in Italia probabilmente perché le vacanze sono durate pochi giorni a causa della crisi. La regione al primo posto come meta di vacanza è stata la Puglia (nella foto copertina, Baia Zaiana, una baia suggestiva vicino Peschici).
Un’altra particolarità delle vacanze italiane è quella di usare la propria macchina come mezzo per spostarsi.
Besides, this year many people have stayed in Italy maybe because they left only for a few days due to the crisis. In first place Italian tourists have chosen Apulia region (in the cover picture, Baia Zaiana, a charming bay near Peschici).
You should know another peculiarity of Italian vacation: they often move by their own car to go on holiday.
